From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of personalities, and a thrilling plot showcasing celestial beings, evil spirits, and sinister influences expanding in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Revealing details for the latest installment of the new season are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
Episode 3 finished on a major cliffhanger and presented the initial group of adventurers who will separate from the central cast to embark on their own adventure, apart from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table includes Teor (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
The Reason for Division
Given a large ensemble, it was evident from the outset that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Overture, connecting the individual narratives before splitting into three separate parties: Soldiers, Schemers, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
As described by the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for adventurers who are drawn to a classically intense fight-heavy story mode where diplomatic options are rare.
Initially, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might seem unsuited, but the events of episode 3 demonstrate why these specific adventurers are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the group understands precisely where to proceed after a brutal initial meeting with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose demise initiated the campaign’s events—used the enemy for his selfish purposes, breaking into the secret base, striking the character, and stealing all the enchanted items to auction.
The antagonist then cleared his debts and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, beyond the city, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each adventurer has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the companion and trusted friend, seeks revenge.
- The adventurer has experience in Timmony and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
- The strong character and The cleric, having defied his house’s orders to kill Teor and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their status as prominent individuals in House Halovar could help the team enter places they usually can’t.
- Additionally, Teor pledged a life debt to The cleric for his deliverance and will now go with him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that rule Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city too risky:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are known criminals.
- Tyranny and Wicander defied the influential house and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- The target is marked for death by the family.
This leaves them no alternative but to journey toward the remote area in pursuit of the antagonist.
What’s Next?
From the latest episode’s Cooldown, we learn that the Soldiers table will not appear the following episode, leaving the rest of the participants to form the Questers and Strategists parties.
